Deep rich red to crimson in colour, indicates the intensity of this wine. The nose is full of ripe plum and dark cherries with a hint of white pepper and sweet vanillin. The flavours carry onto the palate which is full of big soft fruit, but balanced by an elegant oak structure and natural acid, resulting in a rich wine with a complex and fresh structure.
One of the earliest vintages on record which saw harvesting begin in the early weeks of February. The fruit was clean, and in condition with slightly lower sugar levels than the 2006 vintage.
The fruit was machine harvested and then transported to our Glenbawn NSW winery for fermentation. After fermentation, the wine was transported to our Pokolbin NSW headquarters for maturation.
The wine was matured in predominantly new French oak barriques for a period of 18 months before bottling.
Dark red and deep purple in colour, an indication of the intensity of this wine. The nose shows white pepper with ripe berries and a subtle lift of oak. Flavours on the palate are balanced showing fruit richness and an elegant and complex structure.
The intense berry fruit flavours and mouth-filling appeal of this rich red wine makes it a fine accompaniment for lamb, beef and game dishes.
