  • Glenmorangie Astar 2017 Release 52.5% vol 70cl
    Astar was first released in 2008 and was one of the first whiskies produced by Glenmorangie to use 'designer casks' or in this case a casks made from oak from the Ozark mountains in Missouri. This is a slow growing oak with a very porus structure. These barrels are then toasted to contribute almond and coconut flavours, they are then filled with bourbon for 4 years to smooth out and rawness before being shipped to the distillery. A complex malt with a nose of rich and sweet fruit hints of butterscotch and citrus fruits. The palate is smooth and creamy with tropical and stone fruits, creme brulee finishing with honey, almond and toasted coconut.
