The origins of the Mint Julep are hazy but we know that it was being made in the Southern States of America in the eighteenth century. It is a simple, yet gorgeous, drink that is very refreshing on a hot day. This is part of the reason that it is the official drink of the Kentucky Derby and has been since 1938.
