Juicy brambly fruit and fresh redcurrants dominate this generous easy drinking wine. Soft tannins, good acidity and hint of spiciness make an extremely approachable and versatile wine. The entry level Borsao varietals, as you might expect from a well-equipped cellar of this size, are outstanding examples of easy-to-drink inexpensive wines. Increasingly though, Borsao are becoming better known for their premium wines, in particular the iconic, multi award winning Tres Picos.

2008 Vintage: "A pleasant wine with fruity currant characteristics and good balance and length. 'A very decent wine for the price' said Michael Palij MW." "...Bodegas Borsao have frequently done well in this competition; proof that quality - and consistency - will always win through." "'At this price, wines like the Borsao are often consigned to selling without food, but there's enough earth and grunt here for it to work with a lot of different foods, as well as this one.' Martin Lam, Ransome's Dock - paired with slow-cooked belly pork." "For simple, hearty peasant food, you need simple, hearty peasant wine. Our panel was just knocked out by how good the Borsao was for its price. A classic match. For the second time..." - paired with beef casserole. "'This would work with everything from cassoulet to daube and chorizo and chickpeas. The Aussies would die to produce wine like this. It has a real sense of place, and at this price, it'll probably be the house red. It's very attractive for the money.' Martin Lam, Ransome's Dock." " With two food-matches and a Gold already to its name, it seems unnecessary to bestow further honours on the Borsao Garnacha. But it was such a fantastic wine for the money that we couldn't let it pass. Soft and approachable, but food friendly and structured as well, it is, simply, a must-stock."
