Our 2011 Smoking loon wine is a hidden gem amongst the Smoking Loon family. Immediately you are invited in with the rich and dark aromas of boysenberry, blackberry and freshly cracked black pepper. Although there is strong fruit character on the nose, it has a bit of a rustic edge with notes of Herbs de Provence and the essence of sandalwood. Medium-bodied and smooth, this Syrah is sure to please the palate with ripe, jammy flavors of marionberry, black cherry and even a touch of milk chocolate dusted with notes of vanilla through its lingering finish.
The grapes used to make this wine were sourced from multiple locations, most notably Lodi and Paso Robles. The Lodi AVA is located in the Central Valley of California, at the northern edge of the San Joaquin Valley, east of the San Francisco Bay. Lodi Wine Country has a climate that is cooled by winds and fog from the San Francisco Bay
