Description
The distinctive style of Maderia, a fortified wine, evolved from the fact that during the the18th century east-bound ships would frequently transport barrels of Maderia wine for sale in the Far East or Australia and as the ships journeyed through the Tropics, the wine was heated and then cooled again during the six-month voyage.
Spirity and slightly earthy on the nose, dried apricots and hazelnuts on the palate. Very elegant and smooth. A wine of considerable refinement.
