Located in the commune of Portets in one of the oldest wine regions in Bordeaux, Chteau Rahoul has always been considered

as one of the finest wines from the Graves region. The 1868 second edition of the highly regarded Fret Guide, even then

ranked it amongst the top 10 wines in Portets, and since the start of the 1980s, it is one of a handful of wines belonging to the

Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux.

Alain Thinot acquired Chteau Rahoul in 1986, with the intention of maintaining its position as one of the greatest Cru in Graves.

Today the vineyard stretches over 42 hectares, spread out over 5 different communes. In addition to the original historic vines

around the Chteau, additional parcels of vines have been added from the communes of Podensac, Illats, Cerons and Saint-Selve,

where predominantly white wines are produced.

Chteau Rahoul red :17/20 Quite well-knit on the nose and very soft and supple on the front palate with dry tannins insisting only on the finish. Lots tucked in there for a long life. Good appetising stuff!

(Jancis Robinson April 2006)

Chteau Rahoul red : * 1 star (denotes an excellent wine) The first signs of the great structure of this 2005 vintage are revealed in its dark purple

appearance, and again on the nose, where toasted notes blend with red and black fruits
