A ripe, versatile and approachable dry white from western Sicily. Floral peach and tropical fruit aromas and a hint of fennel, rounded and gently honeyed flavours on the palate are balanced by lemony acidity.
Catarratto is the most planted white grape in western Sicily, producing both Marsala and dry white wines. This wine is a blend of two components, one from near the town of Marsala, the other, from the Catarratto Lucido clone, from hillside vineyards at 600m altitude near Alcamo.
In the Winery
Gentle pressing, cool, slow fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks using selected yeasts. The wine was bottled young after a short period of ageing on fine lees in stainless steel.
2009 Vintage: "...there was a great range of affordable Italians including Ca' di Ponti Catarratto 2009. This makes a great change from the ubiquitous Pinot Grigio showing off the soft, honeyed fruit of the unusual Catarratto grape." Andy Cronshaw, South Manchester Reporter, 11th March 2010
