Description

The distillery (pronounced Alt-a-Bane) was commissioned in 1975 to supply malt whisky as a component of Chivas Regal Blend. The distillery was expanded in 1989 and has a potential output of 4.5million litres of alcohol.

The distillery was mothballed in 2003.

TASTING NOTE

Colour: Pale gold.

WITHOUT WATER

:Nose: Light esters -hints of pears and fresh fruits. Fragrant with floral influences emerging.

Palate: Sweet, with defined fruity influences - citrus notes of oranges and lemons, with a touch of sweet sherbert.

WITH WATER

:Nose: Fruity notes with subtle flowery influences - hints of rose petals.

Palate: Flowery - subtle rose influences. With a delicate spice, some fruits and a hint of fresh esters.

Body: Light with delicate esters.

Finish: Short with sweetness.

Cask Type(s): Refill Bourbon barrels

Whisky Style: Very light and easy drinking.
