This rich, honeyed wine is a dream. On the palate it shows light, nutty and apricot flavours, which are balanced by good acidity and a crisp, clean finish.
Acknowledged for its quality by top professionals in the wine trade, Clos de Nouys is a 25 acre estate within the Vouvray appellation, consisting of vines averaging 35 years old. This is one of the oldest wine-making estates in the A.O.C. area, infact the wines were served on the Normandie transatlantic liner in 1936 and its parcels of vines were already listed amongst the best sites on the 1907 geological maps.Their sturdy roots continue to maintain and further the Clos de Nouys reputation, both locally and further afield, thanks to its impressive record of achievements, based on a solid foundation of hard work and the ongoing quest for quality, creativity and innovation.
In the Vineyard
The vineyards lie on chalky clay soils. Vines are green harvested and leaf canopy is thinned. Harvesting is by hand and took place during October 2004.
In the Winery
Grapes are pressed for 3 hours and the wine isfermented in barrels of 225l and 400l using natural yeasts, with regular stirring of the lees in barrel.
Ideally matched with grilled fish, seafood and summery poultry dishes.
