Krohn are specialist when it comes to Colheita Ports. This 2001 vintage show plummy fruit aromas, dried fruits, think figs, raisins and nuts. Silky smooth on the palate with well balanced acidity, and flavours that linger on and on. Bottled in 2013 giving it 12 years of aging in barrel.
Krohn are a small family-owned Port house run by brother and sister Jose and Iolanda Carneiro. Long renowned for the quality of their sublime Colheitas (single vintage tawnies), they produce a remarkably complete range for a small house and each wine excels in its category. The Quinta do Retiro Novo estate in Sarzedinho, in the Rio Torto valley, is all A grade vineyard. Vinification takes place here, with some of the top wines still being trodden by foot. All the wines are matured in cellars at Villa Nova de Gaia.
