With a dazzling level of investment and a pioneering spirit applied to both viticulture and winemaking, Altair have taken the challenge to produce some of the worlds best Cabernet seriously. Nestled at the very top of the Totihue Valley in the foothills of the imposing Andes mountains, Altairs impressive architecture is a sure statement of intent but it has been more than matched by the quality of the initial releases. Winemaker Ana Maria Cumsille crafts exquisite wines from this steep, naturally low yielding, deep gravelly site. The flagship Altair is immense and profound, built for the long haul. The style of Sideral is a little more approachable but in its own right it is still considered one of Chiles finest wines.
Intense garnet, ruby in colour with aromas of plums, wood smoke and vanilla pods. Aromas evolve to exhibit characters of cassis, prunes and toast, whilst tannins are well integrated and rounded. An elegant and sophisticated wine that drinks well now and will keep for 5 years.
