Shackleton's whisky has been recreated by Master Distiller Richard Paterson to taste the same as the whisky that was taken to Antartica in 1907 by Erenst Shackleton. Abandon to the Antartic winter in 1909, three wooden crates of whisky were buried in the ice beneath Shackelton's hut. They were unearthed a century later by New Zealand Antartic Trust. A single crate was then flown to New Zealand for conservation. Three bottles were then taken back to Scotland by Richard Patterson for tasting and analysis, to help recreate this precious and historic whisky.
