Absinthe

Absinthe is a distilled, highly alcoholic spirit which is derived from herbs and is anise in flavour. Absinthe ranges from 55% - 89.9% alcoholic strength and is available in green, red and black. Our range of Absinthe drinks include Pernod, Rodniks, Hapsberg and La Fee.

Absinthe has a colourful history and has developed a mythology of its own, reflecting its potency and the people who have drunk it for its alleged inspirational effects. There are references to absinthe in many great works of literature, such as Dracula (“The green fairy who lives in the absinthe wants your soul”) and many quotes from poets and artists, such as Ernest Hemingway (“Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks”).

Since those heady days of its infancy, absinthe has established itself as a deeply enjoyable drink that pays homage to the days of artistic hedonism. The main ingredient, wormwood, that originally gave it its hallucinatory properties, is no longer present leaving a decadent drink that is usually enjoyed with sugar and water.
