Mezan Barrique aged Jamaica rum was pot-stilled at the famour Hampden Distillery in September 2000. It has been aged in small oak casks for 10 years prior to bottling in April 2011.
The high ester distillery located in the North West of the island. Originally owned by a Scotsman - Mr Archibald Sterling circa 1750 - hence its name. Hampden specialises in heavy pot still, very high ester rums and use no commercial yeasts whatsoever in pursuit of this goal. 100% cultures effect the fermentation and the result is very pungent, idiosyncratic rum.
