A powerful wine, with an intense palate of ripe fruit and vanilla notes and balancing acidity, leading to a long complex finish.
Guy Saumaize, a second generation producer has 13 hectares of mostly Chardonnay (and a little Pinot Noir) in the AC's of Mcon Davaey, St Veran and Pouilly Fuiss. Specific selection based on the terroir (clay and limestone) and seperate vinification allow Guy to make expressive wines of true depth and quality, either from single vineyard sites as in the St Veran or a blend of sites in the Pouilly Fuiss Grande Rserve.
Fermented in barrique, this wine then spent 12 months in a mixture of new and older French oak.
