Description
One of Ribera del Duero's outstanding estates, located near the village of Pedrosa del Duero, the property was established in 1980 but the first release under the Pago de los Capellanes was not until the 1996 vintage. Since then, awards and accolades have been won across the range thanks to meticulous attention to detail in both vineyard and cellar. One hundred hectares are planted, with eighty currently mature, roughly divided into 80% Tempranillo, 10% Cabernet and 10% Merlot. Low yields (an average of 35 hl/ha) and immaculately tended vines produce super concentrated, pure and polished wines.
Pago de los Capellanes Tinto Reserva is made from a blend of 90% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes cultivated on the Pago Estate in Pedrosa de Duero. Burgos. The vineyards have clay-chalk soil.
This dense inky wine displays great finesse and complex cassis characters on the nose. The palate is fine, poised and has great purity - a truly exceptional wine with herbal, vanilla, liquorice and blackberry flavours, firm and well structured tannins and a very long finish.
Grape variety: Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) 90%, Cabernet Sauvignon
