Full bodied wine, well structured, pairs nicely with spiced red meat dishes such as lemon-coriander game hens, pan-seared filet mignon with roasted potatoes and Merlot sauce or penne with stir-fried beef and red bell pepper.
Tasting Note :
This Syrah signals its full bodied fruit with a vibrant, deep magenta colour and a heady perfume of hedgerow fruit and peppery spice.
The name of the rare MandraRossa wines derive from a viticultural district overlooking the seaside of Menfi in Sicily. These wines are suitable for consumers who are attentive and sensible towards the balance between the wine, the culture and the traditions of the producing area. Since the Greek times, the cultivation of the grapevines has passed on over the years on the Sicilian coast overlooking the Mediterranean sea and run through the sunny hills between the Temples of Agrigento and Selinunte. Many aspects have contributed to the vineyards of MandraRossa, such as: the mild climate, the productivity of the land and the worker's care. The Settesoli winery operates on 6,500 hectares of vineyards, but over the years, it has selected 600 hectares as the most productive. Next to the autochthonous tradition of vineyards, such as Grecanico and Nero d'Avola, the MandraRossa vineyards have today become international and named Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. The MandraRossa wines originated from the integration between the culture of the area, the traditional methods of cultivation, and the wine-technological innovations. They are rare wines and are mostly suggested by the Settesoli winery to people with delicate palates, and who own qualified restaurants and wine shops. The Settesoli winery's main rule is to care for every detail. For this reason, many methods handed down through the centuries are united to the most recent technologies. The vineyards are monitored by agronomists during all their phenological phases until they are capable in determining the best period to harvest grapes. The MandraRossa wines go through wine-technological processes accomplished by oenologists, and are considered a synthesis of traditional culture and constant experimentation and research. The whole production cycle, from the vineyards of the grapes to the packaging of the bottles, has obtained the seal of approval under the warranty that the Settesoli winery's technical procedures are in conformity with the highest oenological parameters.
