Description

Dark copper, toffee pickling spices and lanolin in the nose. A smooth entry leads to a very round slightly fruity mostly dry, medium bodies palate with roasted nut, dark caramel and vanilla bean. Finishes with a delicious buttered nut, spice, caramel fade. A very hedonistic aged Caribbean rum.

The history of Ron Barcel started in 1930 with a young mans dream of starting his own Licorera; born in Mallorca, Spain, Julian Barcel arrived that year to the Dominican Republic. It did not take long the Barcel brand to become an essential reference among local rum brands growing into one of the biggest and most prestigious Dominican companies. During the 80s Ron Barcel became the number one preferred national rum and the company realised that it was destined to expand beyond the Caribbean and America and started a very successful internationalisation process in 1992 with very satisfactory results. By 1994 it was exported to over 10 countries with Spain being the main market. In 2000 BAINSA (Barcel Commercial Internacional) sprung fourth as a strategic alliance that allowed Spanish entrepreneurs and Barcel Co to bring the quality of Ron Barcel to every country in the world.

It released heavy hints of toffee on the nose, with some intermittent hits of spice to compliment whilst on the palate, it was rather smooth with a slight sweetness of vanilla and caramel. The flavours of dry fruits is also detected, although the caramel and vanilla are the dominant forces. It finishes well with a lingering after-taste of caramel.
