Description
The award winning St Amour is an astonishing '09 cru Beaujolais. Heavenly scents of peonies and irises, ripe texture with hidden depths of character, smooth rich and satisfying. A polished gem.
Three generations of the Millard family have been making wine at Domaine de La Porte du Paradis, whose vineyards include 9 hectares in St Amour. Vines grow on sileceous clay on gently slopes.
In the Winery
Whole grapes, sourced from a single domaine, are placed in the vat and the grapes are effectively crushed using maceration carbonique (carbonic maceration). Didier also uses a thermo-vinification technique to encourage fermentation. The wine is bottled the May after harvest.
