Description

Cognac Leyrat is located in the Fins Bois region of Cognac. The small lots were developed at our behest and our exclusive to us. What we wanted was to show off the Fins Bois at its finest. The typical style of Fins Bois Cognacs is one of sweet spice, floral, fragrant spirits with a good, rich fruit (almost sultana) character and good balance. They strike a happy medium between being easy to enjoy and pleasing to the connoisseur.



With the Lot 10 our main aim was to not mask these characteristics with oak and have therefore used only old oak - as a result it is quite a pale Cognac - at 10 years old it is older than it needs to be by law to be XO, however, we have dispensed with all that and are just happy for them to be identified by Lot Nos - the 10 standing for its approximate age. I am absolutely delighted with what Leyrat have given us here - so often these ideas don't translate into practice, but this one has and it really is tremendous value for money.
