2003 12% Harvesting began in October and after the hand-picked grapes arrived at the winery, the juice went directly into barriques for fermentation. Bottling took place in September 2004 and the wine was released in 2009. The Merwah was more dominant and expressive this year as if compensating for its absence due to hail in 2002. Golden straw in colour with enticing aromas of honey, butterscotch, pears, quince and mandarin this vintage has a rich, citrusy, honeyed palate. Beautiful straw gold in appearance; displays aromas of orange peel, sweet spice and stewed pears. The palate is rich and generous with almond and citrus fruit flavours. - Simon Hoggart, The Spectator, April 2009.
