Description

After 10 years, Krug 1998 - the fourth and final vintage of the decade - emerges from the cellars in Reims as an enchanting chamapgne of astonishing purity and precision. From its creamy, caressing texture, through its full, finely balanced flavours, to its extraordinarily long finish, Krug 1998 is a study in harmony - delicate, refined, utterly captivating.



The warm glow of yellow gold, the fragrant aroma of flowers in bloom - such are the first impressions of Krug 1998. Then, as it seems to melt upon the palate, it reveals lush flavours of red berries and stewed fruit, balanced by sweet hints of honey, almond and cinnamon. The finish, tinged with tartness of lemon, is a triumph, lingering long in the mouth, longer still in the memory.



Vintage 1998: 1998 was a year of contrasting climatic conditions in Champagne. The month of August, especially, alternated periods od intense heat with spells of rain, insufficient, however, to affect the quality of the grapes. As the thrid week of September approached, the weather was clement, and the harvest yielded particularly fine quality wines, whose potential for ageing was immediately evident.
