Description
Complexed by combining the regional flavours of grapes, this wine has incredible power and purity. Did you notice that The Boxer is a double Mollydooker?
The grapes were grown on the Longbottom vineyard in Padthaway, the Birchmore vineyard in Langhorne Creek and the Mollydooker vineyards here in McLaren Vale. Barrel fermented and matured in 57% new and 43% one year old American oak.
The 2009 The Boxer is an explosive, mouth filling Shiraz experience with integrated tannins and an amazingly long finish. There are no hard edges on this powerful Shiraz.
The wine had a full flavor profile consisting of strawberry, cherry, spice, jam and licorice notes. I tasted the wines at the Mollydooker Winery and it could be the best Boxer that has ever been produced. The wine is enjoyable now but will age gracefully for 10-15 years withouta problem. 96 points, Brian Pasch, www.weloveshiraz.com
